Single prime 4% higher than multi prime

Hi everyone,

The East Penn School District publicly opened bids today for its proposed new Willow Lane Elementary School. In order to determine if it's cheaper to build with a single prime contract or the traditional multi prime, this job was bid both ways.

The lowest single prime bid was $813,300 (4%) higher than the total of the 4 primes under the multi prime bid.

Single prime low bid: $21,645,000

Multi prime low bids: GC $14,248,000
PL 1,112,000
M 2,622,000
E 2,849,700
Total = $20,831,700
